Initec Energía has been awarded along with Cobra and Dragados the construction of a 450 MW combined cycle for Endesa in Ireland

Initec Energía through the joint venture formed by the Irish subsidiaries of Initec Energía itself, Cobra and Dragados, all three companies belonging to Grupo ACS, has been awarded the contract for the construction and commissioning of a combined cycle plant of 450 MW of capacity in Great Island –county of Wexford, Ireland – for Endesa. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will supply the equipment for the power train (turbines, generator and condenser) and Nooter/Eriksen the boiler.

The Great Island project, with a total turnover of 265 million Euros and execution deadline of 27 months, implies the construction of a natural gas combined cycle plant that will replace the fuel-oil one operating at the moment.

Combined cycle technology eliminates the emission of sulfur and particles, decreases drastically the NOx ones and reduces 60% emissions of CO2 to the atmosphere.

With this project, Initec Energía collaborates in the development of the strategic programme of Endesa Ireland, committed to the environmental challenge of improving the energy efficiency of their operating plants by building new ones using cleaner generation technologies.
